Usually when I write a blog I have some sort of flow to my thoughts and I try to write to provide some knowledge. This blog is pretty much a random thought in my head with no structure.
One of the things I will do from time to time as part of my learning is listening to the Moroccan radio stations on my drive to work. Although I don’t understand the majority of what they say I try to listen to some words that are said a lot and then research the meanings of these words. This strategy has helped a bit as some of the words are becoming familiar. However, I have found this one word that is confusing me. The word is ‘rashida’. I have looked at the dictionary to find the meaning of rashida and what I found was the word rashid which has 3 definitions: to become of age, to show, to indicate. I decided to use this definition as it was closest. What is confusing me is the definition are verbs and I am hearing the word rashida used without any conjugations. The word seems to be used as a noun. But what does it really mean? I wish I was able to record some conversations so I could listen to the sentence over and over again. In these situations, I think having a language mentor as so important. Learning on your own can only take you so far.
