Yesterday I was involved in an accident. Fortunately, everyone involved was unharmed. Although it sucks not having my car, having to wait and pay for everything, for me this isn’t even the worst part. Before this accident I started to feel like my life was finally on track. I had a plan of where I was going in every aspect of my life and things were looking good, which hasn’t been the case for a long time. Then the accident happened. After everything was said and done yesterday and I arrived home, I felt like all the progress I made was gone. To illustrate it, its like the game of snakes and ladders and I feel like I landed on a snake which took me to the beginning.
How do you move on from this? I honestly don’t know the right answer. There are a few things that I’m tying to focus on to get back on track.
- There are others that are in worst situations – Like I said earlier fortunately no one was really harmed in the accident. Now the other driver can say he and his family have some injuries later but everyone was able to walk away from the accident. There are other people in accidents who are not so fortunate.
- This is only a temporary setback – Although it is inconvenient not having a car and the payment for the repairs will be expensive, I will eventually have my car and eventually complete the payments. Life will eventually return to normal.
- This is a life lesson – Although this was a mistake that cost me, mistakes are what make me a better person. These mistakes help me to learn what not to do. I think a lot of people try to live life a perfectly as possible. The problem is none of us are perfect, we all make mistakes. What’s more important is how you learn from you mistakes and how you move on to become a better version of yourself.
I’m hoping that by following these steps I will get out of this funk and back on track.
